About THE TECH PACK PROCESS
What is a tech pack?
A tech pack is the document your manufacturer uses to make your product correctly. It translates your design idea into clear technical instructions, including the garment sketch, measurements, materials, construction details, trims, finishes and any other information needed for sampling or production.
For lingerie, swimwear and apparel, a strong tech pack helps reduce errors, avoid misunderstandings with factories and create a more accurate first sample.
What's included in a tech pack?
Each tech pack is tailored to the product, but it will usually include:
- Front and back technical CAD drawings
- Design details and close-up construction notes
- Measurement specification chart
- Fabric and trim information
- Stitching, elastic and finish details
- Colour and print placement information, where relevant
- Branding and label placement
- Bill of materials, also known as a BOM
- Sample comments or fit notes, if required
Do you make patterns?
Pattern cutting can be arranged through my trusted UK pattern cutting partners for garments which require specialist technical involvement.
I create the design and technical development work, including CADs, tech packs, measurements, construction details and factory-ready specifications, then collaborate with trusted partners for professional pattern cutting where required.
For simpler styles, I also work with trusted manufacturers who can develop patterns directly for sampling and production.
